Advice for proper use

Storage
Products packaged inpacks are delivered in PVC thermo-shrinking foil. Such packages must not be placed directly on the ground. Until installation, the product must be stored in a closed or roofed over warehouse. If such a warehouse is not available at the construction site, packs must always be protected with water impermeable foil. Exceptions are products packaged on palettes which are fully protected /covered with PE-foil.
Handling
At loading, transport and handling up to the site of installation, the product must not be damaged (the packaged product must not be thrown!) When stone wool is to be installed on a flat roof structure, packs or palettes ofstone wool should be carefully carried onto the roof, by machines, in order to avoid damaging of stone wool slab edges.
Unpacking and cutting of the product
The product, i.e. the package should be opened at the mere installation site. The foil should be cut with a knife on one of the narrower sides of the package in the direction of the slabs length. The product should always be cut on a clean, dry and flat base with a special knife for stone wool. Edges should be cut even and straight.
Installation
The text below contains practical tips that should be observed at the installation of insulation material:
Safety at work
It is clear that at the installation of stone wool care must be taken about basic industrial hygiene, which also applies to work with any other building material.
· Work clothes
- the clothes should be closed, large enough, with long sleeves and legs
- it is particularly recommendable to wear a head protection if the position of stone wool installation is above head
- people with sensitive skin should wear gloves in order to avoid skin irritation ( mechanical irritation)
- change clothes after each finished job; keep the work clothes apart from other clothes.· Protective equipment
- protective masks are recommended for work in closed, cramped space in order to prevent inhalation of dust
- protective glasses that fit tightly to the face are recommended at high concentrations of dust and at work above head; people wearing contact lenses should always use protective glasses.· Cleaning of work space
- always dispose of waste
- premises where stone woolis handled should be cleaned frequently, one cleaning a day is desirable; before cleaning, damp the air with water· Ventilation
- good ventilation is one of the best ways of reducing dust in working area· Showering
- at the end of each work day, thoroughly wash your body; the best way is to have a shower with a strong flush of water.
